Organised by the Fit Like Joggers, the BrewDog Summer Run starts at BrewDog’s Castlegate, Aberdeen, pub, and finishes at their Overworks brewery and restaurant in Ellon.

This is the third year for the hugely popular events, which started with just a handful of runners taking on the challenge in December 2016.

BrewDog runs are now held three times a year, in June, October and Christmastime. As the organisers say: “There’s nothing better than meeting new people on a run, and sharing stories, miles and beer together.”

The route taken on the BrewDog runs is largely flat, heading through the Granite City via Dyce, and along the old railway line to Peterhead and Fraserburgh that is now the Formartine and Buchan Way long-distance path.

The ‘dog pack’ itself runs at a steady pace, in groups, with two water (and beer) stops along the way. Runners of all abilities are welcome to take part.

Once at Overworks, participants will receive a hand-made medal and a great goody bag, containing a special edition t-shirt, beer, snacks, water and more.

Based on previous events, the expectation is that the Summer Run, to be held on Saturday, 8 June, will take around 3.5 to 4 hours to complete. As such, the organisers stress that a BrewDog run is a challenge, not a race.

“The primary focus is on having a leisurely and friendly run. That means we encourage people to wait at junctions, re-group, support one another, and keep at a pace that you can maintain a conversation.

“There is no prize for coming first (other than the best seat in the bar – although you then have to buy the first round). There is no timing, and no hurry.”
