Borders Cross Country Winter Series

New Venue For Borders XC Series

Borders Cross Country series welcomes new venue this season...

The popular Borders Cross Country Winter Series will return for the 2025/26 season, offering runners of all ages and abilities the chance to experience real cross-country running in some of the most scenic locations across the Borders, East Lothian and North Northumberland.

This year brings an exciting addition to the calendar with the introduction of Vogrie Park as a brand-new venue, hosted by guest club Hunters Bog Trotters. The new course promises to deliver a fresh challenge and plenty of muddy fun. While long-standing venues Duns and Spittal will not feature this year, organisers have paid tribute to the many great races staged there over the years.

Launched more than 30 years ago, the Borders XC Series was created to provide a safe, inclusive and sociable environment where juniors and seniors alike can enjoy the unique thrill of cross-country running. Junior races cover around two miles, while seniors tackle approximately four miles, but the emphasis has always been on participation, camaraderie and enjoying the landscapes rather than pure competition.

The 2025/26 series will open in Lauder on Sunday 2 November before moving through a mix of classic venues and the new Vogrie Park race, finishing with the presentation round hosted by Teviotdale Harriers at Stirches on Sunday 1 March.

Organisers say: "We are once again expecting a strong turnout from clubs and individuals keen to embrace the mud, hills and winter spirit that make the Borders XC Series such a firm favourite."
