Aviemore Half Marathon and 10K for All returns for 2021
The good news for runners – and charities – continues with the return of another popular Highland fundraiser
Organisers of one of Scotland’s most popular running festivals have just announced that their event is to go ahead as planned this autumn.
Speyside Trust have confirmed that the Aviemore Half Marathon and 10k for All will be held over the weekend of 16/17 October, with entries now open and expected to sell out fast.
Entries to the Half Marathon will be limited to 1000 and the 10k 600.
Previously point-to-point races starting at Speyside Trust’s Badaguish Outdoor Centre and finishing in Aviemore, both events now start and finish at the Centre, which sits at approximately 1000ft above sea level.
Both races still take in stunning views of the Cairngorms, Glenmore Forest and Loch Morlich as they meander along forest tracks, logging trails and lochside paths.
Although the events are run largely off-road, they are suitable for runners of all abilities, and can be tackled with just a ‘good normal supportive running shoe’.
Immensely popular with runners, the Aviemore races are important fundraisers for Speyside Trust, a charity which encourages and helps people with disabilities and special needs to attend camps, holidays, outings, expeditions, outdoor and indoor activities and to enjoy the Speyside countryside.
All race entry fees will be treated as donations to Speyside Trust, with organisers also encouraging entrants to raise money via sponsorship to support the Trust's charitable aims.
