Another 10K Stunner
With these scenic 10K events, you're really spoiling us Scotland!
You'll know already that we are not short of scenic events in Scotland, but another one that firmly ticks that box is the Arrochar 10K which takes in some of the most amazing scenery in Argyll. This year's race will be held on 21 September, an early autumn day is the perfect time to enjoy the scenery at its best.
The popular varied terrain 10K provides runners with rewarding views of Loch Long, with a route that takes runners through the forestry road before descending into the forest paths taking them through the beautiful woodlands of Ardgarten.
Those taking part will need their climbing legs on as they head up through the Arrochar Alps to scenic Ardgartan and back to the village along Loch Long. It's something of a spectacular finish with a run alongside Loch Long and amazing views of both Arrochar and Ben Lomond.
Run by the Loch Long Jetty Association, the event is traditionally followed by a prize-giving ceremony at the Three Villages Hall in Arrochar. As well as overall prizes, there are also special prizes up for grabs for local runners – who live within 15 miles of the start line – and for ‘ex-locals’, who previously lived in the area or have strong local family connections.
In 2023 over 170 runners took part with Fergus Donnelly of Shettleston Harriers claiming victory in 36:56, it was Springburn Harrier, Cat Gillen who claimed top spot in the women's race in a time of 43:52.
