Worksop Half Marathon

Back To Front Half

Early bird entries are now open for Worksop's reverse half...

Get your Halloween running plans sorted well in advance this year, Worksop Half Marathon will return on 25 October with a striking twist as organisers confirm the long established course will be run in reverse for the first time in its 44 year history.

Staged by Worksop Harriers & AC, the popular Halloween themed race is known for its scenic autumn route through Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park, offering runners a leafy setting and excellent spectator support. The event takes place annually on the last Sunday in October and has built a reputation as one of the region’s best loved half marathons.

Organisers say reversing the route will create a fresh challenge for returning participants and guarantee a complete reset of the course records when the 2026 winners cross the line. The race, often referred to as the scenic one, also incorporates the Nottinghamshire County Championships this year.

Reaction from runners has already been lively. Carol Speight said on Facebook: "After last year and running it a couple of times, I said never again but now.... I'm intrigued even though I know it will still be brutal!" Tracy Cutts also commented on Facebook: "My favourite part of this race was always the motivational signs on the last stretch.... backwards are they going to tell us we aren't sweating enough?!"

Regularly ranked among the UK’s top half marathons by Running magazine, the event combines competitive racing with a festive Halloween atmosphere and encourages participants to embrace the theme in costume.
