A Full Day Of Racing At The Workington Festival Of Running
Four races for all ages...
This relates to: Workington Festival Of Running
The Workington Festival of Running returns on Sunday 2 August 2026, bringing a full day of racing to Cumbria with events ranging from a free 1K Fun Run to a Half Marathon.
Hosted by Cumberland AC and based around Workington Cricket Club, the festival offers runners of all ages and abilities the opportunity to take part in a community focused celebration of running. Distances include a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and a free 1K Fun Run, creating a packed programme throughout the day.
The Half Marathon remains the headline event, attracting runners looking for a longer challenge, while the 10K and 5K provide accessible options for those seeking a shorter race. A lead bike and sweeper runner will support participants across all distances, helping to create a welcoming environment for both experienced runners and newcomers.
The festival atmosphere extends beyond the races themselves. Children's entertainment, stalls, refreshments and a social hub at the cricket club help make the event a day out for families and supporters as well as runners. The free 1K Fun Run offers younger participants the chance to get involved, with medals awarded to all finishers.
Runners completing the Half Marathon and 10K will receive refreshments after their race, while free sports massage facilities will be available throughout the day. Showers, changing facilities and on site amenities add to the experience for participants.
With multiple race distances, strong community support and a festival atmosphere throughout the day, the Workington Festival of Running continues to offer one of Cumbria's most inclusive and enjoyable running events.
