New Wolverhampton 10K Medal

Home win for new Wolves 10K

The inaugural event kicked off from the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.

Sunday 27 March was lift off for the Wolverhampton 10K, making an entrance on a mild Mother’s Day and putting on a show in this West Midlands city. Rob Michaelson-Yeates and Hermione Green were the male and female winners.

Wolves FC’s Molineux Stadium acted as the start and finish for this 10K from organisers RunThrough that attracted runners of all ages and abilities.

There were those taking part in their first 10K or their first post-Covid race and others more experienced looking to target a PB. A warm up outside the stadium was followed by the start inside at 9am as the runners headed away on a flat, closed road course around the city.

Volunteers, marshals and the people of Wolverhampton clapped and cheered them – one guy banged a drum in support at half way – as they soaked up the miles and atmosphere.

Rob Michaelson-Yeates of Lonely Goat RC raced across the finish line at the stadium to win the inaugural Wolverhampton 10K in 32:50. Jonathan Tindall was close behind him, finishing second in 32:55 with Namir Batavia of Coventry Godiva Harriers third in 33:40.

Hermione Green of Lichfield RC sped to victory as the first female, finishing in 38:20. Lauren Evans of Sportstest was second female in 40:06 and Amy Wakeley of Telford AC third female in 40:49.
