Windmill Marathon 2026

Coastal Running Awaits At The Windmill Half Marathon

Scenic half marathon by the sea...

The Windmill Half Marathon returns to Lytham St Annes on 9 August 2026, offering runners the chance to take on one of Lancashire's most recognisable coastal races. Organised by Fylde Coast Runners, the event starts and finishes beside the iconic Lytham Windmill on Lytham Green. The route follows a flat and fast course along the Fylde coastline, making it a popular choice for runners targeting a PB as well as those stepping up to the half marathon distance.

Runners can expect expansive views across the Ribble Estuary, wide open coastal paths and the distinctive seafront scenery that has helped make the race a favourite on the North West running calendar. The largely level profile provides an excellent opportunity for consistent pacing, although coastal breezes can add an extra challenge on the day. The route takes participants through Lytham and Fairhaven before returning to the finish on the Green, where supporters create a welcoming atmosphere for runners completing their 13.1 mile challenge. The combination of sea views, local support and an attractive coastal setting gives the event a character all of its own.

Fylde Coast Runners have built a strong reputation for delivering well organised races, and the Windmill Half Marathon continues to attract runners from across the region and beyond. Whether chasing a fast time, preparing for an autumn marathon or simply enjoying a summer race beside the sea, the event offers a memorable day of running on the Lancashire coast.

With the famous windmill providing a backdrop to both the start and finish, runners can look forward to a half marathon that combines scenic surroundings, community spirit and one of the most distinctive race locations in the North West.
