The course encompasses a variety of surfaces, including playing fields, canal towpaths, unmade tracks, footpaths, country lanes, and a short stretch of trunk road. Starting and finishing at Westbridge Park near the town centre, the route runs adjacent to the Trent and Mersey Canal south to the historic village of Aston before looping back.
