Vitality London 10000 and Vitality Mile heads for Hertfordshire

Exciting and historic venue for postponed London events

This late May Bank Holiday weekend was due to see two of London Events iconic promotions, Vitality London 10,000 and the Vitality Mile. Unfortunately, both events were cancelled on 31 March due to the continuing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

LME has just announced that both events will now go ahead on Sunday, July 11 at historic Hatfield Park, Hertfordshire, within the grounds of the great Jacobean mansion Hatfield House, built in 1611.

Vitality London 10,000 will take place in the morning from 09:00am followed by Vitality Mile from 2:00pm. Both events have attracted both the elite and masses in the past but arrangements will be somewhat different this year, following the cancellation of the 2020 editions due to Covid-19.

Participants in the 10K will be offered the choice of two races, with socially distanced or non-socially distanced starts. The non-socially distanced event will start at 09:00am and the socially distanced race, with runners setting off in pairs, will start from 10:45am.

Vitality Mile will comprise a series of eight races, starting with the fastest at 2:00pm. Further races, for participants of all ages and abilities, will follow with the final race due off at 4:15pm.

Hugh Brasher, Event Director for LME, said: “We are delighted that it has been possible to stage the Vitality London 10,000 and Vitality Mile at Hatfield Park on Sunday 11 July and would like to thank Vitality, Hatfield Park and our other partners for their support. It is so important to stage these events as we come out of lockdown. We all know how important exercise and events are for both mental and physical health and we were determined to put on these wonderful events that have done so much to inspire activity over the last seven years.”

Everyone who had entered the central London events will be offered a priority window in order to transfer their entry to the Hatfield Park event, defer their entry to 2022 or receive a full refund of the entry fee they have paid.

General entries will be on sale from 12:00 noon Tuesday 1 June. The entry fee for Vitality London 10,000 at Hatfield Park is £39 (less £2 for members of a registered club) and all finishers will receive the official medal and New Balance technical T-shirt (retail value £35). Fees for Vitality Mile are £9 for adults and £7 for children aged 12-17. Entry is free for children under-12 on 11 July. All finishers will receive the official finisher's medal.
