Registration for National Short Course XC qualifier to close at midnight

Virtual challenge offers chance to race 'for real' in December

Registration for the scottishathletics Lindsays Virtual 3K Challenge closes at midnight tonight (Wednesday, 4 November).

The event will serve as the ‘qualifying route’ into the Lindsays National Short Course XC due to take place over the weekend of 5 & 6 December.

The fastest male and female athletes across different age groups will be given the opportunity to enter the Short Course XC: 175 across the U20, Senior and V40 categories; 15 across the V50 category; and 15 across the V60.

Additional places for each gender across the U13 to V40 age groups will also be available on a first come, first served basis.

Qualifying runs must be completed between midnight on Thursday, 5 November and 11.59pm on Tuesday 10 November.

For this particular short-distance challenge, runs completed on a certified synthetic running track are admissible, provided they are supervised by a UKA licensed coach and backed up by suitable GPS data.

Club group runs organised and supervised by a UKA qualified coach are also acceptable.

All runs must start and finish at around the same point, and be either lapped (with no laps less than 1km) or ‘out and back’.

Athletes taking part must follow the latest government guidance on physical distancing, travel and exercise. All results – one per runner – must be submitted by noon on Wednesday, 11 November.

Entry to the challenge is restricted to members of scottishathletics

For the first time since the organisation launched their virtual events earlier this year, there will be a charge of £2 per member.
