10K Champs In Manchester
Great Manchester Run will be even greater with 10K Championship confirmed...
The UK Athletics 10K Road Championships will take place on the streets of Manchester this spring after organisers confirmed the national title race will be staged as part of the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run.
The announcement comes as the countdown continues to the 2026 event, with organisers describing the partnership between UK Athletics and The Great Run Company as a major moment for elite and club runners alike.
More than 40,000 participants are expected across the weekend programme, with junior and mini races taking place at Etihad Stadium on Saturday 30 May. The main races follow on Sunday when tens of thousands of runners will take on either the 10K or half marathon distances alongside elite athletes competing for national honours.
Organisers say: "The course, combined with large crowds and strong elite fields, consistently produces some of the best performances on the UK road running calendar."
The championships race will be open to registered club athletes from affiliated UK Athletics clubs who meet the qualifying standards, offering competitors the chance to contest national honours in front of one of the largest crowds at any road race in Britain.
More than 100,000 spectators are expected to line the streets, with millions more watching live coverage on the BBC. Entries for all distances are expected to sell out once again as the event prepares to deliver its biggest edition to date.
