Top times in store at Telford 10K
The festive season can be quite a tricky period for proper training - dark nights, slippery terrain and other distractions can all be a hindrance. Thankfully, there are still a number of top, fast races that will allow you to go to the next level and hit an end of year PB.
One of those is the Telford 10K, which, with a full general entry list for Sunday 9 December, is an event that runners in the Midlands have identified as the perfect event to round off their end of year training.
New for 2018 will be an additional wave start to ease congestion at the start of the race. Wave one will be the elite men (29 min to under 31 min), followed by elite ladies (under 40 min) and online entries of sub 40 minute men (31 to 40 min). The final wave will be the masses over 40 minutes.
On the 10k’s popularity despite its winter date, race director Dave Mansbridge told runABC Midlands: “We have been full for a few weeks now. The size of field is limited due to the width of paths of the traffic free course within Telford Town Park otherwise we could definitely increase our capacity.”
Dave continued: “It does clash with the European Cross Country event again but it does not make too much difference. The men’s field for December is already looking extremely strong with entries from 2016 winner Josh Grace (29.21), Jake Shelley (29.23), Phil Sesemann (29.40), Ollie Lockley (29.15), Doug Musson (29.24) and regular Irish top finisher Kevin Seaward (29.36).”
