Top times in the pipeline at Trafford 10K
The Trafford 10K will consolidate its position as one of the fastest events in the circuit when the rescheduled event takes place this Sunday (2 September). Organisers Altrincham and District AC were forced to postpone the race from its original date in in March due to the inclement weather.
The re-scheduling, however, has only heightened the excitement and there is a number of top runners set to compete this weekend. Set for the starting line is Andy Butchart, who will be returning to action after breaking his foot in February, an injury which caused him to miss out on the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Butchart looks set to face stiff competition from Marc Scott, who recorded a 13:45 at last week’s Mid-Cheshire 5K – a time that also scored him a new course record. Scott (28:07) boasts the fastest 10k of the men’s field, which will include Scott Overall and Nick McCormick.
In the women’s field, Jessica Paisecki is the quickest on paper with a 10K PB of 32:41. Competition is likely to come from Juliet Potter, Rebecca Robinson and Charlene Thomas.
Last year’s event caused quite a stir at the runABC North news desk when we reported that a pony had gatecrashed the race at the 7k mark. Keep an eye out for our 2018 race report early next week.
