Tock Ticking for Trafford 10K

The Trafford 10K have just a handful of places remaining, organisers have announced, with the race set to reach entry capacity before the close of the year. Renowned as one of the fastest courses in the UK, the event, scheduled for Sunday 10 March, represents a prime opportunity to run a PB and attracts runners of all abilities from far and wide.

In September, Dave Norman announced that he would be stepping aside as organiser of the popular 10k. Norman had been in charge of the race for 20 years and had seen the event become a cornerstone of the Northern racing calendar.

Run North West later announced that they would be taking over the organisation of the race. With a portfolio that includes the Wilmslow Festive 10K, Alderley Edge 10K and Southport Seaside 10K, the news was met with positive approval from the running fraternity.

Last year saw Chris Thompson take first in 28:55. Richard Horton (29:27) just managed to edge out Highgate Harriers’ Andy Maud (29:28) in an exciting contest for second position. Each of the top five completed the 10k in under 30 minutes.

Swansea’s Elinor Kirk headed the female field with a winning time of 33:29, with Sunderland Strollers’ Aly Dixon second (33:40) and Lauren Howarth grabbing third spot in 34:00.
