Scurry Around Tentsmuir Forest Trail Running Festival returns for its sixth edition on Sunday 1 November, offering four different ways to explore the trails around Tayport.
Organised by Scurry Events, the festival includes a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 1.2K Family Fun Run. The three main races each follow their own single lap course through and around Tentsmuir Forest, starting from the grassy area beside Links Road North.
This is proper mixed terrain running rather than manicured park paths. Depending on the distance, runners should be prepared for a combination of forest tracks, uneven trails, tarmac, grass, sand and potentially plenty of November mud.
The Half Marathon starts at 9:30am and ventures furthest into the forest, with an aid station along the route. The 10K follows at 9:45am and the 5K at 9:50am, with both adult and junior entry available for the shorter race.
At 11:30am the focus switches to families. The 1.2K Fun Run follows a marked course around the start area, with younger runners guided by badger signs. Proceeds from the Fun Run support Tayport Community Trust, which the wider festival also aims to help.
Finishers in the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K receive a medal and race memento, with new Head buff colours promised for 2026.
Four distances, separate forest routes and an event designed to include everyone from Half Marathon trail runners to children following badgers around a field. Tentsmuir has turned its November race day into a genuine family trail festival.
