Bridge of Orchy 10K 2026

BOO! This Time You're Running It Backwards

Bridge of Orchy 10K returns on 1 November with its familiar multi terrain course reversed for the fifth edition of this spectacular Highland race...

This relates to: BOO (Bridge of Orchy) 10K

There is a genuine twist waiting for runners at the fifth Bridge of Orchy 10K on Sunday 1 November. The route is being run in reverse.

Known appropriately as the BOO 10K, the multi terrain race usually introduces itself with a tough 2K uphill start. Not this year. The course itself remains the same, but reversing the direction completely changes how runners will experience it.

The opening is now a relatively flat road section with Loch Tulla on the right and the hills of the Black Mount Estate opening up ahead. Runners pass the Inveroran Hotel and continue to the turning point at Victoria Car Park.

It is on the return journey that things become considerably tougher. After passing the hotel again, runners turn onto the West Highland Way and tackle the trail climb before being rewarded with a very different ending.

Instead of climbing towards the finish, the final 2K is downhill, with views towards Beinn Achaladair, Beinn an Dothaidh and Beinn Dorain before runners cross the Bridge of Orchy on their way home.

The race starts at 11:30am and is limited to just 125 runners. It is chip timed and licensed by Scottish Athletics, with distinctive BOO 10K drinks coasters for every runner.

There is champagne waiting too, although only the first man and woman across the line get to take that home.

Same roads and trails. Completely different race. Running BOO backwards could make its fifth edition particularly interesting.
