Challenge Yourself At Scotland’s Biggest Marathon
Don't miss out on your chance to take part in the country's biggest marathon this spring...
Join thousands of runners for one of the flattest, fastest and most iconic marathons in the UK at the Edinburgh Marathon, which will take place on Sunday 25 May. The Edinburgh Marathon has sold out every year since 2008 and is likely to reach capacity soon so make sure you secure your guaranteed entry today and be part of Scotland’s biggest running festival!
A spokesperson from the event told us: "Set amidst the breathtaking backdrop of Scotland's historic capital, this is your chance to challenge yourself and become extraordinary."
It is undoubtedly a stunning route, with runners starting on Potterrow, the Old Town heartland of Edinburgh University, before heading north over the historic High Street and down The Mound. Participants will then run past the Scottish National Gallery and into Princes Street Gardens with the iconic Edinburgh Castle as their backdrop.
The route then takes in the Scott Monument before heading down the Royal Mile towards Holyrood Park, the Scottish Parliament and Royal Palace then east towards the beautiful coastline. The marathon finishes in Pinkie Playing Fields, Musselburgh.
The marathon may be the 'main event' but this is a festival of running and there are nine races on offer over the course of the weekend meaning there is something for everyone from the seasoned runner to kids just starting out on their running journey. The fun kicks off on Saturday 24 May at Holyrood Park with a 10K, 5K and four junior races. On Sunday 25 May the Edinburgh Marathon, Edinburgh Half Marathon and Team Relay start from the heart of Edinburgh City.
