Sweet rewards at charity Chocolate Challenge
Everyone needs a treat especially now as the lockdown continues – that is when there is nothing nicer than a bar of chocolate! So treat yourself, enter the Chocolate 5K & 10K Virtual Challenge and help Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice in these uncertain times.
The Chocolate 5K & 10K Virtual Challenge is hosted by Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and can be completed indoors or within a local area. Participants run or walk 5K or 10K on their own or with other members of their household, so ideal for families, and donate or raise a minimum of £15.
This virtual event is an alternative to the spring Chocolate 5K & 10K that was due to take place in Sandwell but has been postponed as a result of the coronavirus. There would have been ‘chocolate stations’ along the route and chocolate at the finish – perfect for sweet-tooth runners – and a commemorative medal.
Chocolate-lovers will still get to enjoy their favourite confectionary in this virtual challenge as a selection of tasty treats will be sent to them along with a chocolate-themed medal for their efforts.
It is a straightforward challenge: participants run, jog or walk a route close to home, laps around the garden or on a treadmill. They take photos and share these on social media @brumhospice using the hashtag #virtualchocolate. Then send an email to the organisers when they have completed their distance and achieved their sponsorship target.
The hospice asks participants to follow government social distancing guidelines and exercise in a safe and respectful manner.
