May the pace be with you in this virtual challenge

Entrants might wish they could harness the power of the Force as they attempt to run as fast as they can for 4 miles in 'May The 4th Be With You' virtual race challenge. For one lucky runner, a paid for entry to an NSRRA race is the reward for their efforts.

Following the success of his Fastest Mile and Hill Challenge in April, Coach John Danahay of High Performance Runner (HPR) has launched three more in May to keep the competitive juices flowing! There is an 800m challenge, a controlled progression challenge and 'May The 4th Be With You' – an open virtual race challenge with an element of fun.

With a reference to ‘Star Wars’, this event began on Monday (4 May) and continues for the rest of the month. John will choose one person, at random, to receive an exclusive HPR ‘May the 4th Challenge’ T-shirt and in a further show of generosity, Tel Wall of Boalloy RC will, for a single participant, pay the entry fee to an North Staffordshire Road Runners Association event of their choosing when the series restarts.

As with the other challenges, participants record their 4 mile run and submit evidence in the form of photo of their GPS watch, a screenshot of their Strava data or tag John in a comment on Strava. He will post a league table of finishing times throughout May. It is free to enter and runners can have as many goes as they want at the distance.

Remember to follow government social distancing guidelines, be mindful of others and stay safe.
