Gearing Up For Garioch
There's still time to be a part of one of the north east's biggest celebrations of running...
Run Garioch returns to the north east this May with places still available at all of the festival's races - Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Junior Run. But be quick, as entries will close soon for the 12 May event.
Race day takes place in and around Inverurie with Garioch Sports Centre the start and finish location for the bigger races, the perfect base for spectators and those taking part.
The Garioch 10K is where it all started for Run Garioch, way back in 2006. Now known as the Dandara 10K, the race is a challenging but rewarding event suitable for all abilities. The10K route takes runners through the streets of Inverurie and out towards the countryside at Polinar Dam.
Those taking part in the scenic Half Marathon can expect spectacular views of Bennachie along the way as well as an infamous climb at Dubston.
For those looking for a slightly shorter distance, the 5K is the perfect option. Introduced to the event in 2011, the 5K is an ideal first event for those just starting out on their running journey as well as those who want to push themselves hard.
In 2024, all runners over the age of 12 (S1) will be able to take part in the Mackie's 5K and everyone crossing the line will receive a medal and a Mackie's water bottle. Not only that... the fastest male and female junior runners will also receive a year's supply of Mackie's chocolate and ice cream!
