Fast 10K Series Offers Discount

Entry for this year's Babcock 10K series tops 600, but there's still time to grab early bird entry...

More than 600 runners have already entered the Babcock 10K Series which doesn’t begin until Sunday 12 May with the Babcock Shettleston 10K on Glasgow Green. The Dumbarton race follows on Thursday 23 May and the Babcock Helensburgh 10K on Thursday 30 May concludes the series.

The Shettleston event also includes the Babcock Family Fun Run 2K which was introduced last year on the entirely traffic free course, with medals for all finishers.

The Dumbarton event will host the Dunbartonshire AAA 10K Championships with medals for individuals, teams and age groups whilst the Babcock Helensburgh 10K will incorporate the Scottish Athletics West District Championships. The medals for the championships will be presented by the winner from the first race in 1983, Gerry Gaffney and similarly Elaine Mackay of Shettleston Harriers will present the ladies awards, who won the race several times in the early 1980’s.

Last year’s Dumbarton winner, Taha Ghafari, the Iranian Kurdish refugee who ran in the World Cross-Country Championships is expected to line up in Dumbarton and Helensburgh. Calum Johnson from Gateshead Harriers set a new course record in the Glasgow race last year and is expected to head North again for the Helensburgh race. Nynke Stuma, formerly Mulholland won last year in Dumbarton and is planning to defend her title this year.

Benefit from the extension to an ‘Early Bird’ discount which saves you £5 from the series entry until midnight on 31 January. More than £6,000 in cash and Start Fitness running equipment vouchers are on offer for individuals, age groups and teams. Every finisher will receive a unique commemorative medal and item of Start Fitness running merchandise. All series entrants will receive a free limited edition, Babcock 10K Series long-sleeved More Mile running top.
