Act Fast for Last Splash ‘n’ Dash Entries

Runners still feeling the heat this summer should try to nab themselves one of the few remaining places in the St Andrews Splash ‘n’ Dash (Saturday, 21 July).

As with last year’s inaugural event, the 2018 Splash ‘n’ Dash will be a two-lap race, run mostly on the firm, compact surface of St Andrews’ magnificent West Sands Beach. The race, which will be approximately four miles long, will start and finish at the Life Guards’ Beach Hut.

As you might expect with a beach run, there’ll be no sneaky hills to worry about – but each lap does end in the sea! Race organisers PB Timing warn: “You will get more than your feet wet, so remember to bring a change of clothing!”

Race numbers have been slightly increased this year to 160, but at time of writing, places are limited.

All finishers will receive a race medal personalised with their finishing time. Over 18s will also receive a bottle of Craft Originale beer, the ‘Champion Beer of Fife 2017’; junior finishers will be able to quench their post-race thirst with a soft drink.

As with last year there will be extensive age category prizes as well as awards for both male and female podium places.

Organisers revealed this week that award winners – as well as some lucky spot-prize winners – will receive a unique, locally produced collectors’ coaster.
