The Only Way Is The Alban Way!
Now's the time to secure your place in this New Year's Eve race...
The St Albans New Year's Eve 10K – unsurprisingly on Tuesday 31 December – is one of a handful of events in the south where you can sign off 2024 with one final fling and perhaps a tilt at a 10K PB!
The single-lap course starts and finishes in Highfield Park and runs out along the flat and tree-lined disused railway line called the Alban Way towards Hatfield before a loop via Sleapshyde and returning along the Alban Way. The route is mainly on tarmac, with a grass field finish, and most of the course is traffic-free.
Active Training World invites runners of all standards to celebrate the end of the year with friends and promise a glass of fizz at the finish line. Make it a family event and join in the free Children’s Fun Run which will take place just before the 10K starts (no need to book). You can always use it as your warm-up.
Other hallmarks of this ATW promotion include the great running route; a well-marked course with supportive marshals; free event photos; custom-designed medals and finish-line snacks and goodies.
ATW supports the SheRACES initiative to encourage more female participation in their events. Features of the initiative include pregnancy race entry credits; prize equality; adequate toilet facilities and availability of sanitary products. To learn more about the SheRACES movement click here
The 2023 St Albans New Year's Eve 10K saw 535 finishers inside 90 minutes with wins for Jonathan Janes (Bedford & County AC, 33:00) and under-17 junior Thea Gray (Dacorum AC, 39:18). Nearly 20 runners beat 40 minutes and almost 300 dipped inside the hour.
Entries are available to anyone over 15 years old on 31/12/24. Click here to sign up now...
