Runners at the Cheadle Spring 5 road race

Cheadle Spring 5 is calling you

One of two annual races from Cheadle RC and popular with the running community.

The Cheadle Spring 5 is ready to leap into action on Sunday 27 March with an undulating course on quiet country lanes and the friendliest marshals to keep everyone going. Even better, we may get some balmy spring weather on the day – fingers crossed!

It is organised by Cheadle RC who also host a 4 mile road race in July with both events attracting a keen field of runners from across the region and beyond. They relish the ups and downs as they make their way around Cheadle in the Staffordshire Moorlands and there is individual and club pride at stake.

Last year’s Cheadle Spring 5 was held as a virtual event but it returns as a live race again in 2022 and provides an opportunity to put that winter training to the test. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder which might trigger a sudden influx of entries with a little over two weeks until race day.

Whilst the cost of living is increasing, the Cheadle Spring 5 is good value for money in regard to the entry fees with the aim of being affordable to everyone irrespective of their background. In return, participants are presented with a well organised, marked and marshalled route and there are prizes for the top three men and women and first vet male and vet female in all age categories. Finishers receive a medal for their efforts.

Glyn Pattison of Cheadle RC recommends giving this “great race” a go adding: “It’s cheaper than a gallon of petrol.”  Isn't everything these days Glyn?
