7 Scenic Miles In Leicestershire
Popular Leicestershire 7 miler returns with new route for 2025...
The popular Shepshed 7 will return on 2 November, with runners once again set to take on seven miles of multi-terrain racing in the Leicestershire countryside. Starting from Iveshead School, the race begins at 11am, with a fun run kicking off the day at 10am.
Traditionally routed through the scenic grounds of Garendon Park, this year’s event will feature an alternative measured course due to construction works. The park itself lies to the west of Loughborough on the site of a 12th-century Cistercian monastery and contains the Temple of Venus, Triumphal Arch and Obelisk, making it one of the most visually appealing running settings in the region.
The course offers a mix of grass, gravel and hard surfaces, with sections that can become muddy and puddled after rain to give the event a true off-road flavour.
Post-race, participants can enjoy tea, coffee, homemade sandwiches and cakes in the school café, with Running Fox providing a pop-up shop. All finishers will receive a commemorative shirt, and there will be spot prizes, toilets and changing facilities available on site.
Organisers say: "Our race offers a traffic-free challenge against the backdrop of one of Leicestershire’s most historic and picturesque estates."
