The Shepshed 7 is a scenic 7 mile mixed terrain race organised by Shepshed Running Club, starting from Iveshead School and heading into the countryside of Garendon Park. The measured course is traffic free and takes runners through the park before returning to the school.
The route uses a mixture of grass, gravel and hard surfaced paths, with sections through Garendon Park that can become muddy following wet weather. The course is fully marshalled, with a water station around halfway and another at the finish. A 1 mile Fun Run around the school playing fields takes place before the main race.
With chip timing and a measured course, the Shepshed 7 provides a distinctive test over a less common racing distance. There is an extensive prize list covering overall, age group and team categories, along with spot prizes, while every 7 mile finisher receives a commemorative shirt. Refreshments, toilets and changing facilities are available at race headquarters.
