Salomon Announce Golden Trail Series

Salomon has announced a trail running series that will literally scale peaks of the sport. The Golden Trail Series will bring together five of the most iconic trail events and has, on offer, a €100,000 prize pool that will be shared amongst the overall top 10 men and women at the grand final.

Commencing on 27 May at the Zegama Marathon in Spain, the series will move to Mont Blanc (1 July), Sierre-Zinal in Switzerland (12 August), Pikes Peak Marathon (19 August), Ring of Steall Skyrace in Scotland (15 September) before concluding in South Africa at the Otter Trail event on 20 October.

On the launch of the Golden Trail Series, Greg Vollet from Salomon Running said: "Each of the top 10 final athletes will be able to compete in the Grand Final race for a charitable cause they choose to support. This allows each athlete to have a voice in the trail running community. We chose these races for the Golden Trail Series because they are the most exciting races to follow where the winners aren't decided until the very end.”

Greg added: “It will be five legendary races full of adventure, emotion and competition, each celebrating a key component of the spirit of trail running. Zegama has the best fans, Mont Blanc Marathon has the best scenery, Sierre-Zinal is the fastest, Pikes Peak has the altitude and Ring of Steall is very technical. So this is the best of the best."

While the event will bring together the top athletes in the sport, Salomon is hopeful that it will also be a celebration of trail running and one that is organised for the full enjoyment of the fans. More information is available here.
