Be In The Loop At Leicester
Run circuits around the beautiful Abbey Park and receive a big bespoke medal as a reward
Sunday 16 April sees the return of Leicester’s Big 10K; a race for every type of runner, whether first timer or old hand at the distance.
The mainly flat course means a great chance of a big PB in a stunning location with plenty of green space to run around at Abbey Park on the banks of the River Soar.
The river divides this beautiful park into two distinct areas: On the western side of the river are the fascinating Abbey Grounds with the remains of the twelfth century Leicester Abbey, and the ruins of Cavendish House, a seventeenth century mansion. To the east of the river lies the highly decorative Victorian part of the park with its evergreen shrubberies, trees, boating lake, miniature railway, and formally planted flower displays.
The two start waves cater for all abilities: those who run 45 minutes or less at 9am followed by the rest at 10am. Runners complete loops inside and outside the park on an officially measured 10K course. There’s a water station at the half way point and more water at the finish along with a handsome medal.
