Nick Butter of Run Weekends

Annual General Run...?

You can sure tell the difference when it's Butter...!

Annual General Meetings are usually dry old affairs but how about an Annual General Run? And with a Chairperson like eleven times world record holder Nick Butter in charge you can rest assured the Annual General Run at Sandbanks on 15 June 2024 will be anything but boring!

Nick Butter launched his company Run Weekends in July last year and he's had a busy six months, as he describes: "Boy what a journey it’s been. We’ve delivered some incredible events, I’ve been chained to my laptop and phone planning, re-planning, and falling asleep at my desk - and I’ve LOVED IT. Oh, and I've been running plenty too, of course."

We think Nick Butter would agree he's a running nutter. He's completed more than 1,000 marathons and nearly 100 ultras and he's the first and only person to have run a marathon in every country of the world during a 23-month expedition. Another exploit took him around the coast of the UK – 5,250 miles in 128 days! He's also found time to raise nearly £2 million for charity and is a best-selling author.

So what's on offer at swanky Sandbanks on the Devon coast in June? How about a 20-minute yoga warm-up; a 10-mile group run at an easy pace; a beach BBQ with burgers, beers and smores; a sea swim or dip, and a possible beach sauna (to be confirmed)? And all this for just £28, with a free Run Weekends T-shirt plus priceless motivation and advice from Nick and his team and the chance to meet and make real friends, rather than those digital ones.

Nick provides a fully inclusive group programme at all his events. As he says: "Runners of all abilities, shapes and sizes, ages and genders, and from all walks of life are welcome. You're in good hands: We all run together, we look after each other, and enjoy the event as a group."

If you delve into the Run Weekends website you'll find there are Run Weekends at home and abroad. Domestically, there are Run Weekends in Pembrokeshire, Wales (5 April), The Lake District, Cumbria (21 June), West Highland Way, Scotland (4 July), and Nick's home county of Cornwall on the South West Coast Path (31 January 2025).

Other UK day events that are planned include Learn to Navigate (2 August) and Run Doggy Run for dog lovers (28 September) – contact Nick through the website for more information.
