Run To Save Lives
Run Liverpool Half Marathon in 2025 and help to save lives...
First staged in 1994, the Liverpool Half Marathon is one of the longest running races in the region and will return, along with its sister 10 Miler, on 23 March 2025. In recent years the event has settled down to use an established course, which boasts a grandstand start and finish on the city’s iconic and world-famous waterfront.
The race has become a firm favourite in the lead up to the London Marathon with many people using the race as a test of their progress as they head toward the tail end of their marathon training. It is also a favourite with those looking to raise money for charity. Entries for the 2024 event sold out almost a month before race day so be sure get in early to secure your place in Merseyside's biggest road race event.
One benefit of running for charity is that a free (and guaranteed) place is often on offer - and that is what The North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA) can provide if you choose to run for them in March. NWAA is a lifesaving charity that provides enhanced pre-hospital care to patients delivered by critical care paramedics and consultant level doctors.
A spokesperson said: "By joining team NWAA you will receive lots of help and support to help you achieve your fundraising target and get ready for race day. We will be with you every step of the way and you will receive one of our new NWAA tech running tops to wear with pride on the day."
The charity’s three helicopters and four critical care vehicles attend the most critically ill and injured patients across the North West. New enhancements means that it now costs £18 million a year to operate as a service.
The spokesperson continued: "The new requirement for funding reflects our commitment to maximising the impact we have on our patients. It encompasses a combination of improvements such as providing a night car service seven days a week and blood on board across all helicopters and cars to perform lifesaving blood transfusions on the scene.
"The North West Air Ambulance Charity receives no government or NHS funding – we are a charity that runs solely on charitable donations from our supporters. Join team NWAA today and help us to keep saving lives."
