Run Bournemouth Weekend

Race Is On To Run Bournemouth

It appears there are two piers in this classic coastal race...

From the Kids Kilo on Saturday lunchtime to the anchor event Bournemouth Half Marathon on Sunday morning there's something for everyone and it's all systems go for Run Bournemouth weekend on 7th-8th October 2023.

Entries are still available for this super coastal half marathon but standard-priced fees are only available until midnight on Monday 18th September, after which time there will be a late entry surcharge until the final few numbers have been claimed.

Run Bournemouth's strapline is: "Running as it should be", and that is what runners of all standards can expect in the glorious Dorset spa town situated some 94 miles southwest of London at the mouth of the River Bourne.

Bournemouth Half Marathon follows much of the old Bournemouth Marathon route between historic Hengistbury Head and Lower Gardens, Bournemouth, and will see the competitors treading the boards of both Boscombe Pier and Bournemouth Pier.

Previous Run Bournemouth weekends have seen 10,000 people taking part and the half marathon does reach its limit of 4,500 participants so you should act now if you want to be part of this unique race.

Of course, part of the attraction is making a weekend of it, and with plenty of accommodation and seven miles of sandy beaches to explore why not bring the family and consider the Kids Kilo or Junior 1.5K, Junior 2K, or Junior 5K for the young ones? You can also warm up for the 13.1-mile race in Supernova 5K on Saturday evening – an exciting race where bright lights and colours are the themes as dusk falls.

If the half marathon is a step too far then Supersonic 10K goes off at 9:00am – nicely timed so a few hardcore athletes can run both the 10K and half marathon on the same morning! Now that's got to be worth an extra donation for the official charity MacMillan Cancer Support, or any of the affiliate charities like the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Alzheimer Scotland, or MS Society.

All the details and entry links are on the official Run Bournemouth website here.
