Awesome take-off promised at Run Balmoral trail race

Run Balmoral 15 mile trail race sponsor Bristow are offering helicopter simulator packages as prizes.

Participants at next April's 15 mile Run Balmoral trail race will an have an unusual incentive beyond the prospect of a spectacular route, starting and finishing in view of Balmoral Castle and taking in the Ballochbuie pine forest before skirting round the base of Lochnagar.

Race sponsor, Bristow, who operate a world class simulator facility at the company’s Dyce HQ in Aberdeen, are offering helicopter simulator packages as prizes for three lucky winners.

These singular prizes add further lustre to one of Scotland's top spring events with a Saturday (23 April) programme of 5K, 10K and school races ahead of Sunday's (24 April) 15 and 3 mile trail races. The 15 mile challenge is a highlight of the weekend and attracts runners from a wide variety of backgrounds, from top internationals to more casual runners although all will enjoy the same warm Balmoral welcome.

All those who sign-up for the 15 mile race before midnight on January 31, 2022 will be entered into a random draw and one lucky winner will receive a one-hour flight simulator package for themselves and a friend. On top of that, the same prize will be awarded to the first man and woman to finish the race, which takes place on Sunday April 24, 2022.

Bristow's Matt Rhodes said: “We’re thrilled to be offering participants the chance to experience flying a helicopter at our unique simulator facility in Aberdeen as part of ongoing support of Run Balmoral.

“Our range of advanced simulators are an essential training tool for our pilots and use full motion technology, combined with realistic visuals to replicate the experience of flying in a variety of locations and weather conditions. We’re looking forward to welcoming the winners to our premises in Dyce for this one-of-a-kind experience.”

The series of races held over the Run Balmoral weekend will see up to 5,000 competitors take part in the varied programme of events. It’s a real family occasion with children’s and adult races. And there are plenty of fun activities in the Event Village.

Check out the details of both Saturday and Sunday races at runABC Scotland's event pages.
