Make it a date at the St Valentine’s 30K
Tough but tender race is back and so are the Love Hearts.
All you need is love... and running and the St Valentine’s 30K (Sunday 13 February) has both along with a few inclines. In keeping with the theme, couples are invited to enter as a Valentine pair and receive a box of chocolates from organisers Stamford Striders RC.
Covid-19 put paid to the 2021 event but this favourite returns in 2022 and with all the features that make it a ‘must do’ for any runner training for Manchester, Edinburgh or Brighton marathons. It was voted one of the 100 Top UK Races and places always sell out so first come first served. There are no entries on the day.
The 30K (or 18 miles in old money) course is undulating to hilly, taking runners through the beautiful Rutland and Lincolnshire countryside on rural roads and lanes. You can expect ample KM markers, friendly, cheerful marshals and water stations every 5K with jelly babies for an energy boost. It starts at 11am outside Stamford Welland Academy which is also the finish point and Race HQ.
Put your marathon training to the test whilst being supported all the way and you'll be rewarded with a Valentine’s themed medal, water and a goody bag containing a packet of Love Hearts!
There is a generous prize list which includes £100 cash prize for the runner who breaks the course record. And if you have entered as a Valentine’s couple you may be up for a prize depending upon your combined finishing times.
Recover with a post-race massage for a charitable donation and a cup of coffee and something to eat in the school canteen.
There are places left but don’t delay as these will be quickly snapped up. Enter now at the Stamford Striders RC website.
