Run in Colour!
One of the north west's most colourful events is back again this June...
One of our featured races, the Port Sunlight 10K, is always a colourful affair for runners in Merseyside. This year's staging is no exception with finishers' medals and race t-shirts all adhering to the 'bright is best' theme!
All set for a 9 June race date, thousands of runners will take to the streets and surrounding countryside of one of the north west's most unique (and beautiful) villages.
Yes, the event is set in the idyllic village of Port Sunlight which was founded by ‘Soap King’ William Hesketh Lever in 1888 to house the ‘Sunlight Soap’ factory workers. Today it is home to beautiful architecture, a world-class art gallery, stunning parkland and a thriving community.
The village provides not only a unique and picturesque backdrop for runners but an ideal environment for a family day out - which is why the 10K and 5K races are joined on race day by a 1K for kids to take part in so everyone can get involved.
The compact setting provides a tight network of roads and the 5K race finds its way to the four corners of the village with twists and turns, a bit of undulation and sections along the way where runners can really put their foot down... should they feel inclined!
Due to popular demand in recent years, runners can also register for a Dual Challenge to complete both the 5K and 10K races and earn an extra medal to mark their 15K achievement. Organisers, BTR Liverpool say: "Over the last couple of years there has been growing interest in running both the 5K and 10K races so if you would like to take up the dual race challenge then there are a limited number of places available for both races at a discounted rate. Two t-shirts, two medals and a bonus dual entry medal!"
