Penicuik 10K Heads Over The Hill
Popular Midlothian event celebrates big birthday this May...
Midlothian's Penicuik 10K reaches middle age this spring as it celebrates its 40th anniversary! On 10 May organisers are inviting runners to take part in a race that has become famous for its challenging but rewarding route and to help them celebrate the occasion.
Speaking about the anniversary event, organisers say: “The Penicuik 10K is known for its ‘wee hill,’ but this year we’re fully embracing being ‘over the hill!’
"Pomathorn Hill has been a memorable part of this race for years, and while runners joke about taking it out, we all know the reward of the downhill makes it worth the effort.”
Starting and finishing in Penicuik town centre, the undulating course takes runners through scenic countryside, including Howgate and Peebles Road. Those who conquer the climb are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Pentland Hills and a fast, exhilarating descent down the Mile Brae.
To mark the special occasion, organisers are pulling out all the stops. Runners can look forward to an electric atmosphere and spectators can enjoy refreshments from the Brew52 Coffee Van, which will be offering hot drinks at a special race rate. Additionally, a selection of homemade baked goods will be available in exchange for charity donations.
