Prepare for Great… Ness!
The beautiful one is back this autumn...
The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon is a highlight of the autumn running calendar, renowned for its breathtaking scenery, fantastic atmosphere and a truly memorable experience. In 2024, a record 10,000 runners were cheered across the finish line and it looks to be continuing its popularity for the 2025 edition on 28 September.
The event is becoming a global attraction, with stunning scenery, a wide range of race distances, and of course the chance to spot Nessie, it’s no wonder this event is at the top of so many runners’ bucket lists.
The marathon follows a spectacular point-to-point route alongside world famous Loch Ness, starting in the atmospheric high ground near Fort Augustus and continuing through stunning Highland scenery along the southeastern shore of Loch Ness to finish in Inverness.
There’s also the popular Baxters River Ness 10K and 5K as well as a Wee Nessie kids race. The 10K and 5K follow scenic, flat routes through Inverness and are perfect for newcomers and PB chasers alike – so whatever your distance, there’s a race for you!
The Festival of Running offers so much more than just the races - it features a Sports Expo and Event Village with live music, Q&A sessions, kids activities and local street food, bringing the running community together.
Don't miss your chance to be part of this monster event and secure your spot now. If you'd like to know more, visit the Loch Ness Marathon website.
