How Fast Can You Go?
This one mile event is all about speed...
Do you fancy a flat, fast and furious one mile race with a guarantee of no headwind? The second Scottish 1 Mile scheduled for 4 June at Edinburgh’s Silverknowes can offer you just that as last year's entrants can certainly attest to!
2023 will see the return of this super-fast 1 mile event. Taking place along the wide, tarmac seaside route at Silverknowes Promenade in Edinburgh, the start and finish line will be determined by the direction of the wind to ensure you are not battling a headwind but instead may benefit from that holy grail… a tailwind!
There will be three heats culminating in a final and the event will consist of separate Senior and Junior races. Asides from a possible PB, there will be medals for all finishers as well as prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Male/Female and 1st Male/Female in all age categories, V40, V50, V60, V70.
A spokesperson from race organiser, Blast Running said: "All our runs are chip timed however our spirit is that we are here to support your personal running goals."
Last year's inaugural staging saw some fast times across the board, with Edinburgh AC's John Lenehan winning in 4:30:4 while first female was Team East Lothian's Flora Henry who clocked 5:16. The mid point runner was Leanne Calder who reached the finish line in 5:41:5, while the final runner over the finishline (of 88 runners) was Falkirk Victoria Harrier, David Bunyan in 8:02:5.
