Uttoxeter Festival Of Running Under Starter’s Orders
Choice of three races which start and finish at Uttoxeter Racecourse.
There are 5 weeks to go to the Uttoxeter Festival of Running (30 April) with a race to suit everyone in the form of a Half Marathon, 10K and Junior 2K. A team of pacers will be on hand in the half marathon and 10K to help people achieve their target times.
The event is organised by Uttoxeter Road Runners with the Half Marathon part of the NSRRA League Programme for 2023. This means competition will be fierce as there are points at stake as well as club and individual pride. Expect some hard fast racing on rural roads in the Staffordshire countryside.
The day begins at 9.45am with the Junior 2K for U16’s on the racecourse. The prize giving is at 11am.
A sense of anticipation will be felt as runners in the Half Marathon and 10K warm up ahead of their undulating race at 10.30am. The race starts on a flat section for the first 200 yards before the climbing starts. The scenic route makes for great views as they run up and down then back to the racecourse. The final mile is downhill which is ideal for getting up a head of steam again ready for the sprint finish.
Not an easy course to bag a PB but pacers will be amongst the field for those with a target time in mind. The prize presentation will take place between 12.30pm and 1pm.
Uttoxeter Road Runners announced that 50% of race proceeds will go to Your Emotional Support Services (YESS) – a local mental health and wellbeing charity chosen by club members.
