Take The Long Road
Run from Perth to Stirling in an autumn ultra with views to die for...
Imagine running in the shadow of the stunning Ochil Hills... well you can do just that at Wee Run Events' Ochil Ultra which will take place this year on 28 September.
The race will see runners tackling a 50 mile course that stretches from Central Perth to sportscotland's Institute of Sport in Stirling. The event is also a qualifying ultra for the West Highland Way Race.
If you don't feel ready to tackle an ultra solo, then you can do the 50 miles as a team! There is also a shorter ultra of 30 miles from Auchterarder to Stirling which is a great distance to challenge yourself with if you've never done an ultra before.
Both the 50 mile and 30 mile routes use the Core Path Network which will provide runners with stunning views across central Scotland - organisers tell us that selfies are very much welcomed!
If you are looking for even more miles then back for 2024 and its second outing is the epic Ochil 100, which will see participants run from Stirling to Perth and then right back again. Organisers say: "You must have successfully completed a 50 mile (or higher) ultra in the past (Ochil 50 miles qualifies) and you must have completed it in 12 hours or less. This means your average pace works out as 4.17 miles per hour (or higher!)."
Perhaps you are just not quite ready to take on any of these challenges, well maybe you could volunteer instead? Organisers say: "Not quite ready, or having a break? We'd love you to volunteer! Volunteers get free entry to the following year's Ochil Ultra, their lunch provided, a volunteer T-shirt and of course the appreciation and awe of every runner!"
