Back For More In North Lanarkshire
Returning for a second edition - the North Lanarkshire Half Marathon hopes to build on 2025's successes...
The North Lanarkshire Half Marathon will return to Motherwell on 23 August following the success of its inaugural staging. More than 660 runners took part in the first event in 2025, with strong support from the local community helping to create a vibrant atmosphere.
Local councillors have now approved plans for the race to return, with organisers aiming to grow participation and expand the range of activities on offer throughout the day.
Hosted by RUN NL and sponsored once again by Albert Bartlett, the half marathon will feature a scenic route through Motherwell and the surrounding area, with both the start and finish based at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility.
As well as the half marathon, a 5K race will give those aged 12 and over the chance to take part in a shorter chip timed event on a course that also begins and ends at Ravenscraig. Younger runners are not left out, with a 1K race, a 400 metre event and a toddler dash helping to make the occasion a true family day out. All finishers across the events will receive a commemorative medal.
Beyond the racing, organisers are planning a festival style atmosphere at the venue, with music and entertainment, food and merchandise stalls, and a programme of come and try sports development sessions. Free massage therapy will also be available to participants for warm up and recovery, while children’s activities such as bouncy castles, trampolines and face painting are set to add to the family friendly feel.
