Nice Work plan to test & race this autumn

Organisers Nice Work to hold test events in August as a return to live races.

Instead of test and trace it is ‘test and race’ from Nice Work who are organising several ‘dry runs’ as per England Athletics guidelines with the aim of resuming their race calendar. If all goes according to plan, and echoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s sentiment, they hope to have returned to normality by Christmas.

Test events will be held in August with a limited number of runners. Measures to ensure Covid safety include conducting a risk assessment of each individual event; no entries on the day; the use of start waves; additional hygiene facilities e.g. hand sanitisers and determining where the ‘pinch points’ are to avoid congestion and problems with social distancing.

Much of this depends upon how keen (or not) runners are to return and the organisers have taken this into account. They have held a series of virtual races since lockdown began in March that have proven to be a success and created a virtual community that too, has been well received by runners across the UK and beyond. They will continue with their programme of virtual races and the free JustRun series alongside the live races to cater for everyone’s tastes and individual preferences.

The test events will be followed by selected races in September, October and November and depending upon the current situation, festive races in December.

Nice Work will post further updates on their Facebook page containing details about their August test events and modified race calendar. Watch this space!
