New Stately Trail Series

These new trail races are all about location, location, location...

A new trail race series is coming to Yorkshire with Dales Runner's Stately Trails Races planned for Constable Burton Hall near Leyburn on 23 May and Aske Hall on 4 July. Both these races (and there may be more to come) offer runners exclusive access to fabulous (and very stately) locations.

At Constable Burton runners will find a beautiful Grade I listed Georgian house set amongst extensive formal and woodland gardens in the heart of Wensleydale. Those taking part can expect gentle trails across pasture fields, farm tracks and through woodland. Organisers say: "The course is beautiful, but it may still be muddy. There is a stream crossing on the course where you can opt for the bridge, or just get your feet wet!"

The course is single lap for the 5K route. The second lap of the 10K is altered to add variety. The event is an evening race, but organisers say it should be finished during daylight hours.

Those taking part in this race will be rewarded with a finishers hot dog and there will be a bar serving hot and cold drinks. There will also be a Kids Fun Run with a prize for all finishers.

Into July and Aske Hall where runners will be treated to a run around the Georgian country house estate, with parkland attributed to Capability Brown. The private grounds include a John Carr stable block converted into a chapel in Victorian times with Italianate decor, a Gothic-style folly built by Daniel Garrett circa 1745, coach house with carriage, Victorian stable block, walled garden, terraced garden and lake with a Roman-style temple.

The course is single loop for both the 5K and 10K with a fun run enjoying an easy circuit around the lake within the Aske Park. At this event all finishers will receive a sausage/bacon bun and Mocha Aske will be serving hot and cold drinks with a range of cakes, scones, tea cakes, crumpets and ice creams.
