Pooley Bridge Wild Trail Runs

New Races For Lakes

There's a spectacular new challenge planned for the Lake District this summer...

Runners seeking an unforgettable challenge in one of the UK’s most breathtaking locations can now look forward to the brand-new Pooley Bridge Wild Trail Runs, taking place on 1 June. With Half Marathon and 10K trail races, this exciting new event offers stunning routes through Lakeland’s rugged landscapes, providing participants with awe-inspiring views across Ullswater and the surrounding Lake District mountains.

Set in the charming village of Pooley Bridge, nestled at the northern tip of Ullswater on the banks of the River Eamont, runners will experience a wild and exhilarating race through some of the UK’s most stunning countryside. Every finisher will be rewarded with a medal, exclusive merchandise and an energy bar from event sponsors VOOM, making the experience all the more memorable.

The event is the latest addition to the Wild Deer Events series, which was founded in 2019 by Daniel Flint with the aim of bringing scenic, challenging and inclusive races to runners across the North-East and beyond.

Since its inception, Wild Deer Events has expanded rapidly, now offering nearly 40 events across the UK, including trail runs, road races, cycle sportives, duathlons, triathlons and open-water swimming. With a focus on friendly, well-organised races, the company has built a reputation for hosting events that attract both first-timers and seasoned athletes year after year.

Organisers say of the new event: "The Pooley Bridge Wild Trail Runs promise to be an unmissable addition to the UK trail running calendar, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience in one of the country’s most picturesque settings. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply want to immerse yourself in Lakeland’s spectacular scenery, this is a race that belongs on every runner’s bucket list."
