New 10K For Speyside
Whisky and running make a fine pairing at this brand new autumn 10K...
Lovers of a good Speyside whisky are in for a treat this autumn, with news that there is set to be a brand new 10K taking place in and around one of the region's most distinguished distilleries - Cardhu. The inaugural Skedaddle Speyside 10K is scheduled for 15 October and entries are officially open!
Speaking about their new event, organisers Skedaddle North, said: "We are so so delighted to be at this stage of planning and cannot wait to welcome you all to one of our favourite Speyside trails! This is our big day so please enter and enjoy it with us."
The race begins at Archiestown Village Square and heads up into Elchies Woods with a gradual incline for approx 1 mile on wide land management firetracks before becoming more undulating with great views towards both the Little and Meikle Conval hills and the mighty Ben Rinnes.
The route then becomes narrower and muddy before descending into a fast downhill section of the Mannoch Road, again with stunning views of the Speyside skyline and across to the Cairngorms (hopefully). The route continues down and round the right hand side of the Cardhu Reservoir towards the Highland cows (who love a digestive biscuit apparently). It is just past this point that runners will reach the finish line at the world famous home of Johnnie Walker - Cardhu Distillery.
Speaking about post race plans, organisers said: "Water will be available at the finish line and there will be refreshments and home baking for sale courtesy of Heilan Brew Coffee. Local home bakes will be available within the 'dramming garden' for entrants and spectators with spectacular views of the countryside."
