Chetwynd Deer Park 10K

New 10K For Shropshire

With just a couple of weeks to go until its inaugural outing, hurry to secure your spot on the start line...

A brand new 10K race is set to make its debut in Shropshire later this month, with entries still open ahead of the inaugural Chetwynd Deer Park 10K.

The event, which launches on 15 March, is a collaboration between Newport & District Running Club and Chetwynd Deer Park. With organisers saying they hope the new fixture will become a regular highlight on the county’s race calendar.

Based near Newport, the race will take runners on a two lap multi terrain course through the historic 200 acre private park, which features open grassland, woodland trails and views around Chetwynd Pool. The 20 acre lake and surrounding landscape are expected to provide a scenic backdrop for what promises to be a lively and welcoming race day atmosphere.

Organisers say the event has been designed to appeal to runners of all abilities. However, with sections off road, participants are being advised to keep an eye on weather conditions in the lead up to the race and to consider trail shoes if conditions underfoot are soft.

Newport & District Running Club, which is committed to promoting both the competitive and social sides of the sport, believes the partnership with Chetwynd Deer Park offers a unique opportunity to bring a fresh event to the area.
