New 10K Race For Perthshire
The Rattray Blair Half Marathon will be joined by a 10K race in June...
Great news for runners in Perthshire as it has been announced that The Rattray Blair Half Marathon will return for 2024 on 2 June, not only that - organisers have also decided to incorporate a brand new 10K race too!
The half marathon is known for being one of the most undulating and scenic half marathon races in Scotland and organisers promise that their new 10K race will be equally as impressive.
Both the Half Marathon and the 10K courses start and finish near Rattray Primary School and will see runners head out on predominantly quiet, rural roads. The Half Marathon does have a small section of rough track towards the end. Speaking about their events, organisers told us: "Both courses have been accurately measured and will have an SA licence. More importantly, they are super friendly races organised by runners for runners. Plus, there's cake afterwards - what's not to love?!"
Besides the cake all finishers receive a quality t-shirt, bespoke medal and fabulous goody bag. But returning to the promise of cake, organisers boast: "The most amazing post race buffet will be available for all participants. Probably the best in Perthshire, maybe even Scotland!"
All profits from both races will be split between two charities – the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) and the Alexis Rose Fund in aid of Meningitis Now.
In 2023 there were close to 200 participants in the half marathon with Michael McConnell of Perth Road Runners taking the top spot in 1:22:57. The first female was Cally Urquhart in a time of 01:40:31.
