Milnathort's Crowning Glory
Fancy a midweek race with the chance to be king or queen?
Are you one of those people who loves the challenge of an 'undulating' course? Do you live by the rule that what goes up, must come down. There's a nice midweek evening race in Kinross that lets you do just that, with the chance to be named King or Queen of the Hill just adding to the fun of the night's proceedings.
The sell out Milnathort Dash which this year is set for 22 June is a 5 mile race which is run on road/farm track. With stunning views, varied terrain and a wee bit of 'undulation'; it'll hurt but leave you wanting a rematch, as organisers say: "This is a race that'll steal your heart."
As if that wasn't enough, there is also a race within a race! Those taking part are invited to sprint the hill at the start for a chance to be crowned Queen or King of the Hill. That said, there is something to be said for saving something for the mostly downhill second half? Leave the glory for someone else...
There are prizes in all runner categories with prize-giving after the race. For those brave enough to attempt the challenge, the current King and Queen of the Hill records are held by Ben Kinninmonth (01:09) which he set just last year and Annabel Simpson (01:18) which she achieved back in 2015.
