Meteor Mile

I Believe I Can... Run!

Reach new heights at this unique one mile race...

Do you like running in unique locations? Well, you don't get much more unique than an airport runway, and that's exactly what's on offer at Almost Athlete's Meteor Mile! At the 30 August evening event you can stride out along the runway at Gloucestershire airport and challenge yourself over a measured, fast and traffic-free one-mile course.

Dating back to 2013, the Meteor Mile takes place at Gloucestershire Airport, near Staverton and uses the main runway and section of support road, with the runway lights on against the setting sun.

The first 300 metres are along the support road before a right turn places runners onto the runway itself with a 1K+ dash towards the terminal. Peeling off to the right, the runners take on the final 200 metres to the finish, adjacent to the terminal building.

Whilst competitive, the social and inclusive nature of the race is paramount, with children encouraged to take part. Every finisher receives a bespoke medal, and prizes are awarded for the first male and female adult and junior (U15) finishers. The Aviator bar is the venue for the prize giving and is a great place to wind down, refresh and socialise after the run.
