Schools 'Not' Out for Summer!
Run solo or join a relay team, set a target distance, a target time or just aim for the full 12 hours at this fun-filled event...
The Big School Run will return in 2024 with hundreds of adults descending on Worksop College to relive their youth... and do a spot of running too! The concept is simple, participants are invited to run solo or in a team of eight and complete as many 5K laps in a 12 hour period as they can.
Taking place at Worksop College on 3 August, the race action occurs around a fantastic mixed surface 5K route, through the picturesque school grounds. Speaking of the challenge, organisers said: "A runner can do as many laps as they want within the 12 hours. So set a target and smash it ! When you're ready to call it a day then we've got your medal ready for you."
Worksop College dates back to the 19th century when the school was founded by Victorian Educational Reformer, Canon Nathaniel Woodard. A generous gift of land from the Duke of Newcastle’s Clumber Estate has been extended over the years to provide the 330-acre estate on which the College stands today.
Organisers continue: "The venue is amazing and you can even camp or board on site... we have a great evening celebration on the Saturday night, so it is a perfect runners weekend away!"
And so it is clear that this is no ordinary school and with the invitation to make a night of it you can live out a Harry Potter fantasy. There is the option to camp, motorhome or even stay in one of the boarding houses and you can self cater or join the team for a magnificent evening meal and cooked breakfast.
